Después de estar en el campo dental durante 23 años, decidí volver a estudiar para seguir mi pasión por cortar el cabello. ALVA fue una oportunidad perfecta para obtener la educación que necesitaba para poder calificar para el examen estatal y sin gastar una fortuna. El plan de estudios rápido y los horarios flexibles lo hicieron posible. Como madre y empleada a tiempo completo, necesitaba esa flexibilidad. Fueron muy complacientes cuando cambiaron mis horarios de trabajo. Los maestros tienen amplios conocimientos sobre los protocolos y técnicas actuales. La atmósfera es relajada pero ofrece la competitividad que a veces es útil para impulsar a ser mejor. We put technique at the heart of your training. We follow a hybrid model of learning. This means you work through the theory portion of the curriculum on your own time, wherever it is best for you. Then you spend your classroom time focusing on doing, with in-depth demonstrations, guided practice, and hands-on experiences. Many of our programs also offer opportunities to work with real clients in our student salon under the supervision of licensed instructors. If you learn best by doing and want to build technique with hands-on practice, our school could be a good fit for you.
All of our programs offer opportunities to develop your skills working with real clients. The goal is to connect the techniques you learn in the classroom to real service expectations on a beauty shop floor. All services are provided by students under the supervision of licensed professionals.
No, we cannot guarantee employment. However, we do offer support as you take the next step in your career. We can assist with building a portfolio of your work to show a potential employer, help you create a resume, or even practice interview questions with you. We also try to keep students informed about potential job opportunities in the local area.
Alva’s Lemon Grove campus is the main campus and serves as the administrative and instructional hub. It’s home to our Cosmetología, Estética, Massage Therapist, and Manicurista programs. It also offers a student salon that’s open to the public. The Chula Vista site is dedicated to our Barber Training Program.
